Empowering You Through Understanding

Offering compassionate, person‑centred therapy, shaped around your unique experiences.

My work is grounded in true inclusivity, with a commitment to culturally sensitive and anti‑oppressive practice. I’m here to walk alongside you as you make sense of your experiences and move toward positive change.

About Me

Roxanne Sutherland MBACP

I became a counsellor after my own profound experience of personal therapy, which showed me that with the right conditions and a safe, non‑judgemental space, people can access their own capacity for growth and change. This insight continues to guide my work today.

Before qualifying, I spent 10 years in the helping profession as an advocate for people with learning disabilities and autism within a small Cornish charity. I also managed a project supporting victims of crime. These roles deepened my understanding of trauma, communication, and person‑centred support, and they strongly inform my therapeutic approach.

My aim is to offer a supportive, ethically grounded space where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences and move toward greater wellbeing.

I pride myself in providing a fully inclusive space and welcome people from marginalised groups, with a passion for supporting people to cultivate a sense of belonging, with experience in addressing feelings of being "othered".

My aim is to truly understand what it’s like to be you. I work in an empathic, flexible and creative way, adapting my approach to your needs.

I have experience supporting clients with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, bereavement, eating disorders, family conflict, childhood trauma, relational difficulties, self‑confidence issues, identity exploration, sexual dysfunction, and more.

Counselling for Clients of Colour

Culturally sensitive counselling that respects and understands the unique experiences of clients from diverse ethnic backgrounds.

As a mixed‑heritage counsellor, I am deeply passionate about offering inclusive and culturally sensitive support to clients from ethnic minority backgrounds. My own lived experience gives me a personal understanding of the complexities that can come with identity, belonging and navigating multiple cultures. This insight shapes the way I hold space, with openness, curiosity and respect , so you can explore your story without having to explain or justify your cultural reality. I am committed to providing therapy that feels genuinely inclusive, anti‑oppressive and grounded in understanding, where every part of who you are is welcomed and valued.

Autism and ADHD

I provide counselling for adults and young people with autism and ADHD, offering a flexible and responsive approach that adapts to each person’s individual needs.

My previous work supporting neurodivergent individuals has given me valuable insight into different communication styles and sensory needs, and this experience continues to inform my practice. I tailor sessions to suit each client ,using creative tools, visual supports, movement, or alternative ways of expressing thoughts and feelings.

My aim is to create a calm, accepting space where neurodivergent clients can explore their experiences at their own pace and in a way that feels comfortable and accessible.

For those who prefer to be outdoors or find nature grounding, I also offer walk and talk therapy in peaceful, neutral locations around the local area. This can be a helpful alternative to traditional room‑based sessions.
